Hello My Dear Friends,

Since some of you have been with me for a while, you are aware that I am a member of the Underground Authors, twelve authors who, though living many miles apart, have worked together to create a mystery series in a small southern town called Magnolia Bluff, Texas. We are soon approaching the completion of our third season.

I wanted to tell you about one of our recent Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles. The Ransom Enigma by Charles Breakfield and Rox Burkey. Jo and JJ Rodreguiz are a high-profile couple. She is a famous fashion model and he’s a well-known internet security expert. They stumbled across small-town Magnolia Bluff, Texas a couple of years ago and decided this is the place where they’d like to hide away from rabid fans and enemies—a quiet place to take it easy and completely let go. They spent a lot of time and money to build their retreat. They are thrown for a loop when someone discovers their secret sanctuary. A ransom note throws JJ into a rage and he confronts the culprit. All hell breaks loose. It’s a terrific tale of whodunit because it’s Magnolia Bluff and you know somebody’s going to end up dead. Another recent addition to the Magnolia Bluff  Crime Chronicles is author Richard Schwindt's new novel For Boys Who Struggle With DarknessRichard Schwindt has written a mystery that descends into the darkness of the human mind. A now-retired psychologist, Schwindt has a keen understanding of the human psyche and takes the reader on a roller coaster ride into hell.

The protagonist in Schwindt’s story is college counselor and professor, Mike Kurelek who works at Burnet College of the Arts. He’s no pasty-faced egghead. Kurelek is a big man who likes to hunt with a gun and bow. He doesn’t take guff from anybody, except maybe his wife Sue.

Kurelek’s elderly friend Jack Rice and his dog are badly beaten. Then an aged former librarian is savagely attacked by someone wielding a baseball bat and dies of her injuries. Students at the college are struggling with severe anxiety, and several have opted to leave school. Kurelek has solved mysteries in the past, so the local police recruits him to aid in their investigation into the murder and the attack on his good friend. The school wants him to find out what is driving the depression and departure of several students. Schwindt is one fine writer, and this book is really good.
